So this cartoonist walks into a psychiatric hospital...

If you're here it's probably because I gave you a business card. If you've randomly arrived here then please drop me an email as I do no advertising or SEO and I'd love to know what you were searching for that led you to me.

I draw traditionally with ink and watercolours. I draw birds, gag cartoons and aviation related subjects. I draw other subjects for what, I think, are very reasonable rates that are probably less than I should charge and more than you want to pay but you're paying for gold.

G.O.L.D

I have a long and illustrious mental health career both as a professional employability trainer, support worker, peer worker, board member, trainee counsellor and fundraiser as well as just being a bit mental myself for many years. This culminated in 2013 when I had .5 of my 2.5 breakdowns, met God in the fridge and walked around Scotland for a few months. These days my fridge is mostly just cheese.

I strongly believe that mental health recovery is not possible without joy and purpose. My own purpose is found through my work in mental health and crisis support and my joy is found in cartooning. I still charge for it though.

Without a safe place to stay, something to get out of bed for, something nice to eat, something enjoyable to do, something nice to look at and something or someone to love, life doesn't much appeal. I say that as someone who has a few half arsed suicide attempts and a stay at the luxuriant Royal Edinburgh Psychiatric hospital.

Some things I believe:

Life is too short to pair socks

You can't make a quick Bolognese

Adult nightlights are perfectly acceptable

Avoid social functions that make you bring your own drinks

Always avoid communal food

If you can do something nice for someone, do it

My cartoons are reflective of my beliefs which lean left or right depending on who has annoyed me that day. I don't do social media so if you'd like to commission me you'll have to do it the old fashioned way of sending an email or carrier pigeon.
